Roy Lotz earned his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Washington (Seattle). He has been teaching at John Jay since 1978. He has taught courses in juvenile delinquency, criminology, introductory sociology, issues in crime and justice, research methods, the family, among others. He has done research in juvenile delinquency, theory, crime, sensation-seeking, public opinion, mass communication, baseball, religion, etc. Among his other interests are evolutionary psychology and behavioral genetics. Professor Lotz has published in Criminology, Administrative Science Quarterly, Sociological Inquiry, Youth and Society, and others. He has written three books: Youth Crime in America (Prentice Hall, 2004), Juvenile Delinquency and Juvenile Justice (McGraw-Hill, 1985) and Crime and the American Press (Praeger, 1991).
