Jayne Mooney’s research interests include patterns of violence, domestic violence, crime and the inner city, victimisation surveys and the experiences of the Irish community in London. She is the author of Gender, Violence and the Social Order (2000) Palgrave and a wide range of articles for journals including Critical Criminology, Social Justice, Feminist Review, American Journal of Sociology and Probation Journal and chapters for edited collections. She was the Director of the North London Domestic Violence Survey, one of the most comprehensive surveys of domestic violence in the UK, and various local crime surveys including the Islington Street Crime Survey and the Miranda Crime and Community Survey. She was elected as executive counselor to the Critical Criminology Division of the American Society of Criminology in 2001 and is a longstanding member of the European Common Study Program in Critical Criminology and Criminal Justice. Jayne Mooney is currently working on two books, Applied Criminological Theory (with D. Talbott) to be published by Pearsons/ Longman and Key Thinkers in Criminology (with K. Hayward and S. Maruna) to be published by Routledge, as well as a study on the links between ‘everyday’ violence and extreme violence in contemporary society.
