Professor Rick Richardson is a native New Yorker from the Bronx. He has taught in the Sociology Department since 1990. He graduated from John Jay College, summa cum laude, and earned graduate degrees in Forensic Psychology (John Jay College), Sociology (Fordham University) and Clinical Social Work (Hunter School of Social Work). Professor Richardson is an active member of the college community having served on numerous college wide committees, governance organizations, student mentoring programs and was the Professional Staff Congress’s part-time faculty organizer. He was a recipient of an Outstanding Teacher Award. He teaches a number of diverse courses within the Sociology Department including Criminology, Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Mental Illness, and two courses, Drug Use and Abuse and Chemical Dependency and Family Dysfunction that are required for the Chemical Dependence Certificate Program.
