The overarching educational goal of the Psychology Department is to educate a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body in the theoretical foundations and methods of psychology and to provide them with appropriate knowledge and competencies in forensic psychology research and practice. In keeping with the tenets of a liberal arts education, the major is designed to enhance students’ intellectual and personal development, and for them to explore diverse perspectives and important contextual influences on individual behavior, such as the influence of culture on perception or on parenting styles. Students also have opportunities to engage in faculty supervised research projects, both in class settings and on a more individual basis. These experiences are crucial for fostering students’ critical thinking skills and personal growth.
