Transfer Direct Admissions

John Jay College is now accepting Fall 2018 Direct Admission applications (for transfer students only).  This application process allows eligible transfer students to apply directly to the College.  Prospective transfer students must meet our transfer admissions requirements to be considered for direct admission. 

The Direct Admission process is available by appointment only, Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Students are required to schedule an appointment to be reviewed for direct admission:

The following documents are required to be considered for direct admission:

  • Non-refundable $70 application fee payable online with a credit or debit card 
  • Official college transcripts from each institution attended
  • Official high school transcript, high school equivalency certificate or diploma (a copy of the certificate or diploma will be made by an Admission's representative)
For transcripts to be considered official, they must be received by the Office of Admissions in a sealed envelope from the high school or college institution.  Students may bring official documents (in a sealed envelope) to the appointment or have documents mailed to the address below:

How long will it take to process my application?

The review and application process may take up to three weeks.

How does Direct Admission work?

Direct admission provides students the opportunity to apply directly to the College.  Students interested in enrolling in John Jay College for the Fall 2018 semester and have not applied or have not completed their application are encouraged to apply through Direct Admission.  Students will be required to schedule an appointment to have their required documents reviewed by an Admissions Counselor.  Students without all required documents will not be reviewed.  Students who meet the admission requirements will be admitted on space availability for the Fall 2018 semester.  

Will classes still be available?

Courses for the upcoming semester will be available based on space availability at the time of registration.

If accepted, when will I be able to register?

If admitted to John Jay College, your credits will be evaluted and may take a few weeks to be completed.  After your credits are evaluated, you will receive email notification with registration instructions. 

Should I make an appointment or should I come directly to the office with my documents?

It is required to schedule an appointment. You may schedule an appointment by clicking here.  Appointments will not be taken over the phone.

Can I do direct admissions for multiple CUNY Colleges?

No. You can only do direct admissions for one CUNY College.

If I owe my previous school money, will I still be accepted as a direct admission applicant?

In order for your application to be reviewed and processed, you must provide all official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.

Will all of my credits be accepted?

For CUNY colleges, every credit is transferable for courses with a passing grade. For non-CUNY colleges, a "C" or better is required. Please visit our webpage, Transfer and Advanced Standing Credits for more information.

If I am missing a transcript from one of my colleges, will I be processed as a direct admit?

Students with incomplete applications will not be reviewed for direct admission. All official transcripts from all colleges attended must be provided. Student/unofficial copies will not be accepted.
