Steps to a Successful Spring Semester

Step 1: Provide Proof of Vaccination

COVID-19--CUNY Vaccination Mandate FAQ

  • Upload your COVID-19  vaccination records to CUNYfirst by January 18
  • Continue to check the vaccination verification page in CUNYfirst until the status reflects "APPROVED."
  • If your verification is not approved, check the notes:
    1. Your name on the vaccination record must match exactly the name on your student record in CUNYfirst. If there is a discrepancy between the names you must either request a new vaccination card or update your name through JayExpress.
    2. Your documents must be legible with no portion distorted or covered up. If the documents cannot be ready, you may need to resubmit your forms.
  • If you do not have approved proof of vaccination on record in CUNYfirst, your in-person or hybrid courses will be dropped on/by January 27 and a hold will be put on your record preventing you from registering for future semesters.
  • You can continue to upload proof of vaccination or booster shot throughout the spring semster to be ready for summer and fall registration.

MMR & Meningitis--John Jay Immunization Webpage

  • You will have to satisfy MMR and Meningitis immunization requirements before registering at John Jay. If you did not do so last time you were enrolled at John Jay, make sure to submit your MMR Immunizations and Meningitis Acknowledgement to healthoffice@jjay.cuny.edu by February 25.
  • If you do not submit your immunization forms to the Health Office, your in-person or hybrid courses will be dropped after February 25, and a hold will be put on your record preventing you from registering for future semesters.

Important Deadlines

1/18/22 deadline to upload proof of COVID vaccination documents to CUNYfirst
1/27/22 drop date for COVID vaccination non-compliance
2/25/22 deadline to submit MMR and Meningitis forms to healthoffice@jjay.cuny.edu
2/26/22 drop deadline for MMR/Meningitis non-compliance

Step 2: Get Your John Jay ID

To access the John Jay Campus, students, faculty, and staff need to have a college ID. At the start of the spring semester, you can get your ID at stations in the Shiva Gallery, located in the New Building, L3, 10am to 9pmTo obtain an ID, students will need to have:

  • Vaccination verification approval in CUNYfirst or proof of a negative COVID test
  • A copy of their Spring 2022 schedule
  • Another form of ID to verify identity

If you already have an ID card, you don't need to get a new one. If you've uploaded proof of vaccination to CUNYfirst, your ID card will be activated before classes start.

To obtain an ID later in the semester, or request a replacement, students can visit the main office of Public Safety, L2.61 NB.

Step 3: Know How to Access the Campus

  • If you are enrolled in in-person classes, you need to have your vaccination information uploaded to CUNYfirst and approved to be able to attend classes and access the campus facilities.
  • If you are enrolled in online classes, you need to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test in order to access the campus facilities.
  • For more details, review CUNY Vaccination Mandate Requirements.
