Hey, hey everyone! My name is Yaritma Cabral and I’m a double major here at John Jay. My majors are International Criminal Justice (ICJ) and Spanish with a concentration in translation and interpretation. When I started at John Jay, I was a Criminology major but after taking some elective courses I found that ICJ was actually the major for me.

I dream of working at the United Nations as an interpreter and a translator but also working for Interpol. I started college thinking I knew what my career was but it turned out I actually was in the wrong major. I discovered this only after exploring different courses. This is why I think I have had a true college experience where I found myself and my true career. I wanted to be a Peer Advisor because I want to help students be successful in college, especially freshmen. It is always good to have someone answer your questions about college especially if they are currently experiencing it as well.

When I’m not at John Jay, I am home spending time with my family or binge watching any episodes of the shows (i.e. Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order: SVU, Blindspot) I missed because I was working on classwork.
