The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program, in collaboration with the Center on Terrorism, offers the Advanced Certificate in Terrorism Studies. The advanced certificate program offers a distinctive graduate-level program of study for those seeking to enhance their credentials and better understand terrorism and counter-terrorism. The certificate offers students advanced instruction related to the causes and prevention of terrorist activities.
The Advanced Certificate in Terrorism Studies is appropriate for students who wish to conduct research; become homeland security professionals at local, state, or federal levels; or join American and/or international agencies focused on counter-terrorism.
Admissions and Curriculum Summary
Most of the courses are offered by the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program. This is a stand-alone certificate at the post-baccalaureate level. A student may pursue the Certificate independent of a Master’s program or while pursuing a John Jay Master’s degree. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded with a New York State Education Department certificate.

- A bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Appropriate letters of recommendation

- CRJ 772 Seminar in Terrorism Studies; or
