The CUNY Justice Academy (CJA) is a partnership between various CUNY community and John Jay College of Criminal Justice designed to help you make the transition to a baccalaureate degree. CJA students who complete their associate’s degrees at at a participating institution can then transfer to John Jay and complete their bachelor’s degree in forensic science here. Participating CJA Community Colleges are:
- Hostos Community College (HCC),
- Bronx Community College (BCC),
- Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC),
- Kingsborough Community College (KBCC), and
- Queensborough Community College (QCC).
PRISM provides CJA students majoring in forensic science or Science for forensics at CUNY Community Colleges with special science outings and lectures every semester, behind-the-scenes programming and presentations, and opportunities to engage in research experiences at John Jay or selected CJA partners. These opportunities are designed to get you immersed in the forensic science field, while allowing you to interact with your future professors and peers at John Jay.
To transition to John Jay College as a CUNY Justice Academy student, you simply need to:
- Apply for admission to CUNY, enroll and successfully complete your associate’s degree at one of our partner CUNY Community Colleges:
- Hostos Community College (HCC): Science for Forensic Science (A.S.)
- Bronx Community College (BCC): Science for Forensics (A.S.)
- Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC): Science for Forensics (A.S.)
- Kingsborough Community College (KCC): Science of Forensics (A.S.)
- Queensborough Community College (QCC): Science for Forensic Science (A.S)
- Attend regularly academic advisement sessions with your Community College academic advisors and faculty advisors.
- Complete Quantitative Analysis (CHE 220) at John Jay College (for HCC, BCC, BMCC, and KBCC) or at your institution (when offered) BEFORE transferring to John Jay.
- Failure to complete Quantitative Analysis before transferring to JJC will delay your graduation date by a year.
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
