Abraham Rivera is an experienced security practitioner with domain knowledge of information security management, investigations, training, digital forensics, ediscovery and incident response in the public and private sectors including academia. Spanning over 31 years, he has worked for 6 New York City agencies, 3 domestic and foreign financial institutions, 1 international biopharmaceutical company, 4 technical training schools, 3 colleges and has consulted privately on a number of investigations.
Currently an Incident Commander for the NYC Cyber Command with former roles in banking as Vice President of Global eDiscovery Operations and Cyber Forensics Investigations. The first and former Executive Director of IT and Investigative Operations and law enforcement officer for the New York City Department of Investigation, his managerial and technical expertise is extensive, hands-on, and encompasses over a dozen operating systems, networks and databases.
He has over 30 certifications in information technology, information security and digital forensics. In addition, he has been teaching aggressive networking and security programs and has been performing speaking engagements at numerous institutions, organizations and conferences since 1998.
Moreover, he has taught over 3100 students for professional certification, undergraduate and graduate courses within academia including certification bodies COMPTIA, CISCO and Microsoft as well as custom and specialized courses within digital forensic investigations.
