Office of External Affairs at John Jay

The Office of External Affairs sets strategic direction, provides leadership, directs the planning and oversees the implementation of the College's government affairs and community relations activities, programs, and special projects to support the institution's mission, academic excellence and student success.

Coordinating with members of the John Jay community, the Office builds and fosters relationships with external government and community stakeholders and constituent groups to advance the College's goals and objectives and raise awareness about the importance of investing in public higher education.

Led by Mindy Bockstein, Executive Director of External Affairs, the Office represents and advocates for the College at legislative sessions, before state and city public policy makers and government bodies, federal agencies, and the United States Congress and works with The City University of New York in support of institutional imperatives and priorities.  It oversees the College’s response to a wide range of political and policy issues and serves as a liaison to public officials. The department helps coordinate efforts to obtain government funding and assists in facilitating student applied learning opportunities in the public sector.

The Office assists government and community thought leaders and organizations in gaining access to the College's resources.  Collaborating with faculty, staff, students and others, the department helps orchestrate strategic events to highlight College expertise, research, scholarship and student achievements with external stakeholders and communities of practice.
