Hello Everyone! My name is Stefany, and I am currently majoring in Fraud Examination and Financial Forensics. I chose my major because it was a fairly new major being offered at John Jay, and also because I think that accounting is a core part of any business. In the future, I would love to work with either the FBI or FDIC as a forensic accountant, working alongside other employees, and helping to link and to trace money that is being funneled and laundered.

Becoming a Peer Advisor has increased my knowledge of John Jay and all of its students. I am from a small town, Newburgh, located upstate New York, so I know how it feels to be out of place living in a big city. I also believe that with a little of bit of guidance, students can overcome the feeling of helplessness that comes with attending college, especially the students who just recently graduated high school. We as Peer Advisors know exactly how it feels, and are here in the Advisement Center to make your transition as smooth as possible.

My hobbies include spending time with my family and friends, playing sports, and most of all, watching soccer. My all-time favorite soccer team is Juventus, a team based in the small Italian town of Turin. Outside of watching soccer, I work as a server at the Roundhouse located in Beacon, New York. There we cater for different types of events, but we mainly cater for weddings; I enjoy catering at weddings because it allows me to interact with many different cultures and ethnicities.

Again, just like many of you I also have a busy schedule. But if you have any questions, comments or concerns do not hesitate to shoot me an email. I look forward to meeting all of you!
