This initiative will help prepare students to compete for internship and micro-internship positions in the STEM fields while completing their undergraduate degrees.
What’s Involved
- 5 in-person workshops during Community Hour (1:40pm – 2:55pm) where students will work on creating an application package to submit to desired internship/micro-internship programs, as well as skills needed to be competitive in obtaining such internships/micro-internships.
- Active participation in Slack
- Completion of application package for internship/micro-internship
Participant Compensation
- $300 to students who complete the fall workshop series and submit their application package
- Lunch provided at each workshop
In Person Meetings

Eligibility Requirements
- Currently majoring in one of the five STEM undergraduate majors: Forensic Science, Cell & Molecular Biology, Toxicology, Computer Science and Information Security, or Applied Mathematics.
- Class standing of sophomore or higher
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Has successfully completed the following major courses:
• Pre-Calculus (MAT 141) – All majors
• General Chemistry (CHE 101/102 or 103 and CHE 104) - Forensic Science, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Toxicology majors
• Modern Biology (BIO 101/102 or 103 and BIO 104) - Forensic Science, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Toxicology majors
• Introduction to Computer Science (CSCI 271) - Computer Science and Information Security and Applied Mathematics majors
- Has successfully completed/is currently enrolled in:
• Calculus (MAT 241 or MAT 151) – All Majors
• Organic Chemistry I (CHE 201) - Forensic Science, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Toxicology majors
• Object-Oriented Programming (CSCI 272) - Computer Science and Information Security and Applied Mathematics majors
• Computer Architecture (CSCI 274) - Computer Science and Information Security majors
