Proposal Preparation Resources and Templates

OAR will provide PIs with a checklist of required materials and a timeline of deliverables to ensure a smooth grant application process. We will work with PIs on developing their budget, and connect you with a number of resources, including budget and other templates, sample proposals, etc. that are available to PIs.

Schedule meetings with sponsored programs staff to discuss solicitation and requirements, develop budget, draft supplementary proposal documents, etc.

Proposal Document Preparation:

  1. Letter of Intent Template (if applicable): Each sponsor may have different requirements for a letter of intent. If there is no specific format, work with sponsored programs staff to draft and have your letter signed by the Dean of Research. (coming soon)
  2. Project Narrative: Utilize our Grant Writing Support/Resources to strengthen your project narrative. Each sponsored program will have different requirements, so make sure to follow the guidelines exactly.
  3. Budget Preparation: Meet with sponsored programs staff to discuss your project and the resources needed to complete it successfully. We will draft the budget together.

  4. Subrecipient requirements (if applicable): If your project includes a subaward to another institution, these materials will be required:
    1. Subrecipient Commitment Form
    2. Statement of Work
    3. Budget and Budget Narrative in sponsor format
    4. Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA)/F&A Agreement
    5. Letter of Commitment/Support in sponsor recommended format
  5. Supplementary Proposal Documents: language for standard parts of some grant applications.
