To activate your accommodations, you must submit a Semester Request in CUNY Accommodate every semester you plan to use your approved academic accommodations. Submitting this request generates your official Letter of Accommodation for the current term.
Please note:
If you are already registered with the Office of Accessibility Services, you do not need to re-register. However, you must submit a new Semester Request each semester through CUNY Accommodate to ensure your accommodations are in place.
To receive extended time accommodations for any quizzes or exams, you must complete an Examination Request Form at least 7 days before the exam date. Please follow the steps below or click the links for detailed instructions:
- Sign in using your CUNYFIRST email and password.
- Click New Booking Request.
- Select the course the exam is for, then choose Add Optional Filters.
- Under Building, select “New Building”.
If the exam is a final, select “Yes” when prompted. - Choose an available day and time, then complete the form that appears.
- Click Submit Request to finalize your booking
Important: If your class or extended time falls outside our office hours (9 AM – 5 PM), no availability may appear on the website. In this case, either:
- Email the OAS office directly, or
- Select “Yes” under the Final Exam option in the filters.
Please note: Students enrolled in online courses must still complete the Semester Request Form. In-person testing at the OAS office is only required in extenuating circumstances. If needed, contact both your professor and the OAS office to coordinate support. Otherwise, you may arrange accommodations directly with your professor.

At any time during the school year students can request additional accommodations. Typically, this occurs when medical needs change or additional diagnoses have been made. If you would like to request additional accommodations please submit a supplemental accommodation request through the accommodate student portal. You should be prepared to upload additional documentation to support your request. You may need to meet with your OAS specialist again to discuss the approval of your request.
Please note that this is our policy and should be adhered to; however, we understand that “life happens”, and you may not be able to do this. You will be allowed to “break” the rule 3 times per semester. If you decide not to follow the policy, you will need to make an appointment with the Director, Dr. Beharry, after the 3rd time infraction and explain why you are unable to submit the exam request on time.
