Tutoring Services

Tutoring Services at the MSRC

To receive tutoring at the MSRC, you must be currently enrolled in the course for which you are seeking support.

Tutoring is offered in 50-minute sessions, either one-on-one or in small groups. We strongly recommend scheduling appointments in advance, as walk-in availability is minimal. While we do our best to accommodate walk-ins, we cannot guarantee space.

Before your first session, please take a moment to review our Center Policies.

If you are repeating a math or science course, we encourage you to explore the MSRC+ Program, which is available during both the fall and spring semesters. This program offers enhanced support tailored to your needs.

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, the MSRC provides a variety of academic support services:

Walk-In Support

Supplemental Instruction (SI)

ALEKS Support

Study Groups

Exam Review Workshops

Topic-Based Workshops

One-on-One Tutoring

One-on-one tutoring sessions at the MSRC are 50 minutes long. We strongly recommend scheduling appointments in advance, as our ability to accommodate walk-ins is extremely limited.

Before your first session, please review our Center Policies.

Scheduling Guidelines:

  • Students may schedule one tutoring appointment per day, per course.
  • You can have up to three upcoming appointments at any given time.
  • Appointments can be booked up to 21 days in advance.

MSRC group tutoring sessions are 50 minutes long and are limited to a maximum of three students per appointment. All students in the group must:

  • Be enrolled in the same course and section.
  • Agree to work collaboratively during the session.
  • Receive instruction on the same material from the tutor.

To schedule a group tutoring session, please email or visit the MSRC front desk.

The MSRC MFQR Partnership Program connects a designated MSRC tutor with an assigned faculty member to offer pre-scheduled small group tutoring sessions for students in MAT 105 or MAT 108.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and designed for groups of 6–8 students.

Students will engage in structured tutoring that includes practice problems, study skill development, and review/preview of course material.

Each tutor is assigned to a specific faculty member and supports all sections of their course.

For more information or to participate in an MFQR Partnership session, please contact the MSRC or speak with your MFQR professor.

The MSRC+ Program offers additional academic support for students who are repeating a course. Participants receive:

  • A standing weekly one-on-one tutoring appointment with an experienced tutor for the entire semester.
  • Encouragement to supplement individual sessions with small group tutoring as needed.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be registered for a course supported by the MSRC and have previously received a grade of F, FIN, R, or any form of W in that course.

Participation Details:

The program is voluntary and free of charge.

  • Students must sign an MSRC+ Tutee Contract and commit to attending all scheduled sessions.
  • Failure to meet program requirements may result in removal from MSRC+, though students may still access general tutoring services.

To enroll, students must meet with the Center Manager during the first week of classes, sign the contract, and select a weekly appointment time.
