Accepted Transfer Students
We are pleased that you will be joining our college community. As you begin your college experience, we look forward to supporting you and your classmates during your time at John Jay College.
To enroll as a Transfer Student, follow these steps:
Steps to Enroll
To accept your offer of admission in CUNYfirst, you must submit a non-refundable, non-transferable $100 commitment deposit. This deposit will be applied toward your tuition charges.
To submit your deposit:
- Log in to your CUNYfirst account using the username and password you created when you submitted your application.
- Select View My Application Status.
- Open the Admissions tab and select View Details for John Jay College.
- Accept or decline your offer of admission.
- If you accept, you will be able to pay your deposit using a credit or debit card.
Waiver information:
If you qualify for a waiver, the “Pay Commitment Deposit” button will not appear. Waivers are available to veterans and their dependents, SEEK students, and students who have applied for financial aid and have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $3,000 or less.
Deadlines:
- Spring semester: Deposit is due December 15. If you are admitted after December 15, it is due within 10 days of your admission notification.
- Fall semester: Deposit is due May 1. If you are admitted after May 1, it is due within 10 days of your admission notification.
Students can submit the immunization form to the John Jay College Student Health Center by email at healthoffice@jjay.cuny.edu.
For details and to download the immunization form, visit the immunization requirements page. The Health Office will review submitted documents and will contact you directly if additional information is needed.
To determine your financial aid eligibility, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). John Jay College’s FAFSA school code is 002693.
If you are a New York State resident, you must also complete the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application. The TAP school code is 1414.

You will be eligible to register after your transfer credit evaluation is completed. You will receive an email with next steps, including instructions on how to activate your CUNYfirst account and how to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor to register for courses. You must submit your deposit or approved waiver before you can register.
Students educated outside of the United States may choose to have their academic records evaluated by one of the approved evaluation services listed by the University Application Processing Center (UAPC).
Required documents from the evaluation service
If you have completed less than one year of university study:
- Secondary school record: an official course-by-course evaluation report including a grade point average (GPA) based on all secondary school coursework and any external examination results
- University record: an official course-by-course evaluation report including a GPA based on all university coursework
If you have completed more than one year of university study:
- Secondary school record: proof of secondary school graduation and an official course-by-course evaluation report
- University record: an official course-by-course evaluation report including a GPA based on all university coursework
New student orientation is your first step in transitioning to John Jay College.
You will receive an email invitation as the orientation date approaches.
