Bio

Eddie is an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, and a master’s in Anthropology from the Graduate Center at CUNY.  Broadly, Eddie is interested in the everyday life of politics and the state. Currently a doctoral candidate researching rural and agricultural politics in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland after Brexit. Specifically, he is looking at how the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities on both sides of the Irish Border are transformed by redesigning agricultural policy in NI after Brexit.  Previously, he researched community groups’ efforts to secure renewable energy sources after Hurricane María in Puerto Rico.  

Research Interests: Anthropology of Policy, Anthropology of the State, Critical Agrarian Studies, Development, Economic Anthropology, Nationalism, Political Anthropology, Political Economy, Rural Governance; the British Isles (Specifically Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland), Puerto Rico
