This event will highlight the new book: 911: What's Your Emergency? The Promise and Peril of Crisis Response and explore the challenges and opportunities within emergency response systems in NYC and beyond. The book serves as "an urgent call to action that challenges us to transform America’s over- burdened 911 system and make it safe, just, and equitable for all," particularly through the lens of community safety and workforce well-being.
The program will feature emergency communications and response experts:
- Rebecca Neusteter, Executive Director, University of Chicago Health Lab, and author of 911, What's Your Emergency?
- Ayesha Delany-Brumsey, Commissioner of NYC’s Office of Community Safety
- Taina Borinquen Martinez, Chief Executive Officer, Baltic Street Wellness Solutions
- Maryum Long, Senior Advisor, Public Safety & Emergency Management, New York City Office of Technology & Innovation
- Erica Bond, VP of Justice Initiatives, John Jay College (Moderator)
Attendees will gain invaluable insights into 911 operations, community safety, and needed reforms from voices at the forefront of policy and practice. The panel will provide an engaging dialogue on improving public safety responses for all.
The event will include a talk back with Rebecca Neusteter, author of 911, What’s Your Emergency, the panel discussion with featured experts, followed by a light reception.
