Carla Cordova Farfan, MA (she/her) — ImSSC Interim Manager
Carla is a bilingual (English/Spanish) higher education professional with nine years of experience in immigrant community support, educational access, and mental health initiatives across the U.S. and Peru. As the first in her family to emigrate and earn a U.S. Master's degree, she brings personal commitment to expanding opportunities for John Jay immigrant students.
Most recently, she served as Program Coordinator of the Immigrant Student Support Initiative at Queens College, where she provided case management to more than 1,000 students and families and directed a coalition of ten campus offices to coordinate resources and services institution-wide. She also served as a key advisor to college leadership on policy updates, resource development, and culturally responsive practices, helping bring $1.57 million in resources for immigrant students to campus. Earlier in her career, she served as a Communications Specialist for NGO CSW/NY, an NGO coalition connecting women and immigrant rights advocates worldwide with United Nations member states.
Carla holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies and Social Justice from Queens College and a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication from the National University of San Marcos (Lima, Peru). Outside of work, she loves vampire stories, exploring historical sites, and crocheting.

Ashley Beepath (she/her) — ImSCC Program Coordinator
Ashley’s connection with the Immigrant Student Success Center (ImSSC) began during her final year of undergraduate studies at John Jay College—where she earned a B.A in Forensic Psychology. As an immigrant from Trinidad and Tobago, she found ImSSC to be a sanctuary where she built community and developed her passion for advocacy. During this time, she served as a Peer Advocate Fellow, working with immigrant and mixed-status high school students to support their transition to college.
Her experience at ImSSC inspired her to continue her work with the Center as a Program Coordinator, where she has supported student programming and initiatives. Ashley is currently pursuing a master's degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College and is completing her clinical externship at Discovery Mental Health Counseling. She has hopes of bridging the gap between access to mental health services within marginalized communities.
Outside of work, Ashley loves watching tv (reality shows & period dramas), reading, and collecting smiskis.
