Summer Session 2025 Info
- The Summer session is an “Open Enrollment Period.” Students can register for classes without an appointment.
- John Jay College offers online, hybrid, and in-person instruction. Click here to learn more about course modalities
- Undergraduate students can register for up to 14 credits for the summer term (includes all sessions). There are credit limitations per session. The credit limitations per session are listed below:

- Graduate students can register for up to 6 credits for the summer term (includes all sessions).
Register as a current John Jay Student
1. Log into CUNYfirst, click Student Center, then click Schedule Builder, choose Semester, "Select Course(s)", click Enroll, then click “Do Action”.
Register as an E-Permit, Non-Degree (Visiting) Student or Senior Auditor
1) If you are a current CUNY student from another CUNY campus, you are welcome to study at John Jay College as an E-Permit Student. An E-Permit enables you to study on a CUNY campus other than your home campus. Apply for an E-Permit.
2) If you are a non-CUNY student from another college/university, you are welcome to study to John Jay College as a Non-Degree (Visiting) Student. Apply as an Undergraduate Non-Degree (Visiting) Student. Apply as a Graduate Non-Degree (Visiting) Student.
3) If you are a New York State resident, 60 years of age or older, and have completed high school, you may attend John Jay College as a Senior Auditor. Apply as a Senior Auditor.
Please Note: Non-Degree (Visiting) Students are limited to a total of twelve credits (12) unless they are part of a registered certificate program or the Addiction Studies Program and pay a higher rate of tuition than degree students; they are not able to receive financial aid and there is a $65 application fee. Senior Auditors may enroll in up to two (2) courses on a non-credit basis and pay $80 per session/semester (application fee waived).
Applications must be submitted online by the established deadline for each session/semester. Once your Application has been submitted and processed, you will receive an email regarding registration. Registration for Non-Degree (Visiting) Students and Senior Auditors is based on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to current John Jay College matriculated students and classes may end up being closed and/or cancelled due to low enrollment.
