About

In our increasingly internationalized world, bilingual language fluency can be a major asset for almost any career path one chooses, and is a necessity for some. The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures currently offers courses in nine languages — American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Any of these languages, coupled with a John Jay College major, will enhance a graduate’s marketability and earning potential. Our accomplished international faculty also offer a B.A. in Spanishcertificate programs in translation & interpretation, and a minor in Spanish.
