Dr. Tracie Grimsley Meyers, DSW, LCSW, is an educator, justice-centered scholar, and unapologetic old-school social worker whose work bridges critical pedagogy, community advocacy, and holistic mental health care. As Counseling Faculty within John Jay College’s SEEK Program, she teaches courses in Education and Justice that center first-generation, BIPOC, and neurodiverse students. Her approach is grounded in the liberatory philosophy of Paulo Freire and informed by trauma-responsive, culturally sustaining, and neurodiversity-affirming practices.

With a career that began amid the AIDS epidemic in New Haven, Tracie has served clients across hospitals, schools, and underserved communities—always meeting people where they are. In 2019, she founded The Rapha Collective LLC, a practice dedicated to dismantling barriers to mental health care for historically excluded populations.

When she’s not transforming systems or classrooms, she’s watching anime with her son, cheering on the Mets with her husband, or chasing Chewbacca, her endlessly energetic Morkie.
