Bio

Cary Sanchez-Leguelinel is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Human Services. She was the founding Chair for the Department and has been serving as the Deputy Chair for the past six years. Under her tenure, the major in Human Services and Community Justice was finalized and approved by the Undergraduate Curriculum and Standards Committee. More recently, Professor Sanchez led the integration of the Health and Physical Education faculty and curriculum into the Department, as well as the initiative to revise the Minor in Health, Wellness, and Physical Education, to reflect the development in the field of human services to focus on dimensions of health and wellness. 

Over her many years of service at JJC, Professor Sanchez has focused on promoting students wellness, while prioritizing student success. Her contributions to the College were recently recognized when she received the Distinguished Service to the College award - the 2nd recipient to be selected by the College community.
