Dr. Robert De Lucia, Professor, Department of Counseling, is a licensed mental health counselor and a Clinical Member of the Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. He served as Director, Counseling Services, from 1990 to 2007. Professor De Lucia earned a doctoral degree (Ed.D.) in Education and Family Studies from Fairleigh Dickenson University; Masters of Counseling from Lehman College,CUNY. Post- doctoral training included studies in family therapy at the Alfred Adler Institute, NYC; Bereavement and Grief studies at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York; certification in Marriage and Family Counseling, Queens College, CUNY. Dr. De Lucia developed a specialized advisement program, and serves as counselor, for members of the law enforcement community, (NYPD); fire fighters, (FDNY); correction officers, (NYCC) and other in-service members attending the college. Professor De Lucia represents and advocates on behalf of John Jay faculty serving as the college’s union (PSC) grievance counselor.
