The Honorable Antonio Delgado was appointed Lieutenant Governor by Governor Kathy Hochul in May 2022. Before that, Delgado enjoyed a career in the music industry focused on empowering young people through hip hop; worked as an attorney focusing on complex commercial litigation while dedicating efforts to criminal justice reform; and served in the U.S. House representing New York’s 19th Congressional District as the first person of color representing upstate New York.
In November 2022, Delgado won a full term as Lieutenant Governor. Among his duties, Delgado is the chair of the new Hate and Bias Prevention Unit, oversees the Regional Economic Development Councils across the State and is committed to empowering New York communities through service and civic engagement. Black with Cape Verde and Latino roots, Delgado is the first person of Latino heritage to hold statewide office.
