Permanent Mission of Andorra to the United Nations signed a Statement of Shared Intent (SSI)

John Jay College-Permanent Mission of the Principality of Andorra to the United Nations Statement of Shared Intent (SSI)

In July 2025, John Jay College and the Permanent Mission of Andorra to the United Nations signed a Statement of Shared Intent (SSI) to establish an internship program at the Mission. As part of the SSI, two John Jay College students will undertake internship duties with the Mission during the course of the 2025-2026 academic year: one student for the fall 2025 semester and one student for the spring 2026 semester. At John Jay, this program will be under the direction of the Center for International Human Rights (CIHR). After a series of interviews, Francoise Simmons (Fall 2025) and Anna Segota (Spring 2026) will serve as interns (their biosketches are listed below). CIHR would like to express its appreciation to Ambassador Joan Forner Rovira  and the Permanent Mission for providing this great opportunity to our students.

Françoise Simmons (Fall 2025)

Françoise Simmons is a rising junior in the honors program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. Through her academic work, she has gained valuable knowledge and skills in areas such as humanitarian protection and international law. These studies have shaped her passion for advancing human rights and engaging in global cooperation and diplomacy. Professionally,
Françoise has interned as a case manager at the Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans (CIANA), where she assisted clients by providing French-English translation, guiding them through public assistance programs, and liaising with legal and healthcare representatives. During her fall internship with the Permanent Mission of Andorra to the United Nations, she will be assisting the Mission with drafting resolutions, researching initiatives, and providing organizational support for events. She hopes to contribute meaningfully to Andorra’s advocacy for the protection of children in armed conflict and the prevention of crimes against humanity. Françoise is looking forward to learning about the diplomatic processes within the United Nations.
