American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship
The American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship provides up to $23,000 for a fellowship or $5,000 for a grant to pursue research or study in a Scandinavian country for one year. Current seniors or alumni who are United States citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Becas Scholarship Program
The Becas Scholarship Program is a program that offers scholarships that range from $4500 to $6030 to CUNY undergraduate and graduate students who meet three criteria: academic excellence, financial need, and commitment to service in the Mexican community. Scholarship recipients participate in a monthly professionalization seminar and complete internships for a total of 200 hours in an affiliated nonprofit institution. Boren Scholarship
The Boren Scholarship provides up to $20,000 in assistance to study abroad. Preference is given to students who will study abroad for longer periods of time and who are committed to government service. Undergraduate students who are United States citizens and planning to study abroad in a country that is not Canada, Australia, New Zealand or in Western Europe are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Boston Teacher Residency
Boston Teacher Residency Fellows spend one year teaching in Boston Public Schools and they get a subsidized master’s degree from UMass Boston. Fellows are expected to teach in Boston Public Schools following the completion of the fellowship. Seniors or alumni who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship
The Stephen J. Brady STOP Hunger Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship as well as a $5,000 grant in the recipient’s name to a hunger-related charity of the recipient’s choice. Applicants must demonstrate an on-going commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States within the last 12 months. Freshmen and Sophomores who are 25 years old or younger are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship is a one-time scholarship of $2,500 to be used for undergraduate tuition assistance and related educational expenses to assist Latino college students. Freshman and sophomores who are United States citizens with a demonstrated financial need who actively participate in community service activities are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Amelia Earhart Fellowship
The Amelia Earhart Fellowship is a $10,000 scholarship for women with superior academic backgrounds who are pursuing a Ph.D. in aerospace-related sciences or engineering. Seniors and alumni who are planning to pursue a doctoral degree in an aerospace-related science or engineering field are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship
The Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $20,000 for three years for individuals engaged in a research-based (dissertation) graduate program leading to a Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree. Seniors and alumni who are United States citizens or permanent residents who will be beginning graduate school in the Fall are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Fulbright U.S. Student Program
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides a yearlong grant to do a research project, study or teach English in a foreign country. Seniors and alumni who are United States citizens are eligible to apply. Applicants must be proficient in the language of the country where they are seeking to use a Fulbright Grant. Learn more.
Gates-Cambridge Scholarship
The Gates-Cambridge Scholarship provides a full tuition scholarship to the University of Cambridge to study for a post-graduate degree in any subject. Current seniors and alumni who are not citizens of the United Kingdom are eligible to apply. Learn more.
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Study Scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Study Scholarship is a scholarship and living stipend used to fund a year of independent study or a master’s program at a German University. United States citizens who have a good command of the German language are eligible to apply. Learn more.
French Embassy Teaching Assistant Program in France
Assistants spend 7 months in French teaching English at schools. Assistants receive a salary and health insurance. Seniors or alumni between the ages of 20 and 30 who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents with an intermediate level of proficiency in French are eligible to apply. Learn more.
German Chancellor Fellowship Program
The German Chancellor Fellowship Program supports fellows, as they spend one year in Germany where they will meet with other young leaders from around the world and undertake independent projects at host institutions. Fellows will receive living stipends, intensive language courses, and seminars. Graduating seniors and alumni who are United States citizens who received their bachelor’s degree within the last year are encouraged to apply. Learn more.
Golden Key
Graduate Scholar Award gives twelve $10,000 scholarships used for post-baccalaureate or professional study at accredited institutions of higher learning (does not have to be in the U.S. or have a Golden Key chapter). Judging criteria include academic merit, campus / community / work commitments, and significant involvement in local Golden Key chapter. Recipients must plan to enroll in graduate school in the fall of year received. Member does not have to be a U.S. citizen; member can apply up to five years after graduation; applicants may continue to re-apply as long as they are eligible, but previous recipients may not re-apply. Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship
The Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship is a full tuition scholarship and a living stipend to pursue a Ph.D. in the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences. This includes applied mathematics, statistics and the quantitative aspects of modern biology. Graduating seniors or alumni who are United States citizens or permanent residents and are willing to commit their skills to the United States during times of emergency are eligible to apply. Humanity in Action Fellowship
Humanity in Action fellows participate in an annual month-long human rights fellowship program held each summer in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris or Warsaw. The fellowship covers the full cost of participation in the program and includes housing and most meals. Sophomores are eligible to apply. Learn more.
J. Edgar Hoover Scientific Scholarship
The J. Edgar Hoover Scientific Scholarship provides $25,000 scholarship to students in a scientific field of study. Juniors who are United States citizens majoring in the sciences are eligible to apply. Learn more.
James Madison Memorial Fellowship
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship is a tuition scholarship of up to $24,000 to earn a master’s degree in American history or political science. Fellows agree to teach American history, American government and/or social studies full time to grades 7-12 for one year for each year that funding was received. Learn more.
George Marshall Scholarship
The George Marshall Scholarship offers a one to two year full-tuition scholarship and living stipend to study any field at a graduate level at a university in the United Kingdom. Current seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with a GPA of 3.70 or higher are eligible to apply. Learn more.
George J. Mitchell Scholarship
The George J. Mitchell Scholarship provides a yearlong full tuition scholarship and living stipend to study for a post-graduate degree at a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Current seniors who are United States citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible to apply. Learn more.
National Institutes of Health / Oxford / Cambridge Scholars Program
Scholarships in the National Institutes of Health/Oxford/Cambridge Scholars Program are offered to exceptionally promising students who wish to pursue accelerated Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D training at the cutting edge of biomedical research in collaborative projects between labs of the National Institutes of Health and Oxford University or Cambridge University. These scholarships fully fund Ph.D. training expenses, including tuition, college fees, stipend, health insurance and travel. Scholars can receive full funding for combined M.D./Ph.D. training in coordination with one of the 42 top U.S. medical schools that have NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Programs. Learn more.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship offers a three year grant of $30,000 per year and a $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees to study for a graduate degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field at any United States graduate degree-granting institution. United States citizens or permanent residents who plan to begin a research-based Master’s or Ph.D. program at an accredited United States graduate institution are eligible to apply. Learn more.
New York City Teaching Fellows
The New York City Teaching Fellows Program gives its fellows an opportunity to teach in New York City public schools without prior teaching experience. The fellowship provides training, placement in schools and a subsidized master’s degree program. Seniors or alumni who are U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. Learn more.
New York City Urban Fellows
The New York City Urban Fellows provide a 9 month fellowship to work in Mayoral offices and city agencies in New York City. Fellows learn about public policy through a hands-on approach. Fellows earn a stipend of $30,000 and health insurance. Learn more.
Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship
The Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship provides funding up to $90,000 toward a two-year master’s degree program. Fellows also will participate in internships in Washington, D.C. Upon completion of their master’s degree program, fellows become USAID Foreign Service Officers. Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship
The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship provides up to $40,000 per year for each year of a two year master’s degree program. This fellowship is for individuals who are seeking to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service. Fellows participate in two paid Summer internships: one in the United States and one abroad. Those who complete this program agree to work for the United States Department of State Foreign Service for at least three years following the completion of their education. Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program
For those who want to become Foreign Service Officers in the U.S. Department of State, the Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program provides benefits of up to $90,000 over two years toward a two-year master's degree, arranges internships on Capitol Hill and at U.S. embassies, and provides mentorship and professional development support. Seniors or alumni who are United States citizens with GPAs of 3.20 or higher are eligible to apply. Learn more.
Rhodes Scholarship
The Rhodes Scholarship provides full tuition and living stipend for one to three years of graduate study or the pursuit of a second bachelor’s degree in any subject at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. John Jay College-Rubin Museum Writing Competition
The Rubin Museum of Art sponsors an annual writing competition with cash prizes awarded to those who write the top submissions. Any John Jay undergraduate student in good standing may participate in this contest. Essays are due in the Spring. Learn more.
Herbert Scoville, Jr. Peace Fellowship
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship provides for Scoville fellows to participate in full-time six-to-nine month fellowships in Washington, D.C. that focus on peace and security issues at non-profit public interest organizations. Fellows are compensated and receive health insurance and transportation to and from Washington, D.C. Current seniors or alumni are eligibly to apply. Learn more.
Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans provides up to $20,000 per year in tuition assistance and up to $25,000 per year for living expenses to support two years of graduate study in any field from any graduate-degree granting United States institution. Current seniors or alumni who are: 30 years old or younger and New Americans (who were born abroad and are now United States citizens or green card holders or whose parents were born abroad and became United States citizens) are eligible to apply. Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship
Fellows receive $30,000 stipends and admission to a master’s degree program in education. They earn a teacher certification in a STEM field. Fellows agree to teach for 3 years following the completion of their master’s degree in Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, New Jersey, or Indiana.
