Hello Bloodhounds! 

My name is Taamesha Dindial, and I am honored and excited to serve as your Vice President-Elect for John Jay Student Council 2026–2027.

I am 22 years old and entering my senior year at John Jay. I proudly identify as an international student from Guyana, a transfer student from LaGuardia Community College, and a first-generation college student. Each of these experiences has shaped the person and leader I am today, teaching me the importance of perseverance, community, representation, and making every opportunity count.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, I had the privilege of serving as an International Student Representative for Student Council. I have also been an active member of West Indies Massive, the International Student Association, and the Committee on Commencement Activities. Through these experiences, I have had the opportunity to connect with students from several backgrounds and as such, understand that there is no single “John Jay experience.” Every student brings a different story, culture, challenge, and dream to our campus. And every one of those voices deserves to be heard.

As your Vice President, I intend to lead with inclusivity, integrity, and action. I want to provide a space where students feel comfortable speaking up, sharing ideas and, raising concerns. I plan to be a Vice President students know, want to approach and can trust. I’m willing and ready to represent, advocate, and serve with confidence and heart.

 My name is Rich Verdi, and I am running for Vice President of Student Council for the 2026–2027 academic year. Having served as a Senior Representative during the 2022–2023 school year and as a Graduate Representative during the 2025-2026 school year, I have seen firsthand both the potential of Student Council and the importance of leadership that stays connected to the students it represents. 

My experiences on Council have taught me that leadership is not simply about holding a title. It is about listening, communicating, supporting others, and turning student concerns into meaningful action. As Vice President, I want to help build a Student Council that students not only know exists, but feel comfortable approaching and participating in. 

One of my biggest priorities is strengthening student outreach. I want to create more opportunities for students to share their concerns, ideas, and expectations directly with Council and ensure their feedback helps guide our work. I also want to strengthen the relationship between Student Council, CSIL, student organizations, and the wider campus community so that clubs and student leaders feel informed, supported, and included. 

I also believe Student Council should look for practical ways to support students in their everyday lives. I want to explore partnerships with existing campus resources to expand access to initiatives such as food assistance, school supplies, and other forms of student support. Rather than making promises I can't guarantee, I am committed to listening to students, identifying what is achievable, and working with the right offices and organizations to turn good ideas into realistic initiatives. 

Most importantly, I want to be a Vice President who is present. I want students to know who represents them, how to reach their Council, and that their voices matter beyond election season. I will bring the experience I have gained from serving two different student populations, the lessons I have learned through both the successes and challenges of student leadership, and a willingness to continue learning from the people around me. I am running for Vice President because I believe Student Council can be more connected, accessible, and responsive to the community it serves. If elected, I am ready to work alongside the President, Council members, student organizations, campus offices, and most importantly, the students of John Jay to help make that vision a reality. 

I am asking for your support not just to hold the position of Vice President, but to help build a Student Council that listens, connects, and acts.
