Dr. Lissette Delgado-Cruzata
Dr. Lissette Delgado-Cruzata advances science with a commitment to equity in health and education. A Fulbright Scholar and Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at John Jay College, she investigates how genetics and the environment influence breast cancer in Latina and Latin American women, working toward reducing disparities in outcomes. Her dedication extends to the next generation of scientists: she has secured more than $700,000 in National Science Foundation funding for initiatives supporting underrepresented students in STEM and mentored students who have pursued doctoral studies at leading universities. Through research, teaching, and mentorship, she expands both scientific understanding and opportunities for women in science.
Marcos A. Crespo
Marcos A. Crespo has dedicated his career to expanding opportunity and improving lives in the Bronx and beyond. A John Jay College graduate, he served 11 years in the New York State Assembly, where he led the effort to enact the Green Light law, championed a $1.8 billion investment to transform the Bruckner–Sheridan Expressway, and helped coordinate disaster relief for Puerto Rico. His commitment to public service continues through his roles as Senior Vice President for Community Affairs at Montefiore Health System and a member of the SUNY Board of Trustees, advancing community well-being and access to higher education.
