M365 Outlook Email

John Jay E-Mail (Microsoft 365)

E-Mail Access

John Jay email is hosted on Microsoft 365 (Outlook.com) and can be accessed:

  • From any computer with an internet connection using Outlook
  • From home or off campus using any internet service provider using Outlook
  • On mobile devices and desktops using Outlook (after configuration)

For security reasons, always sign out of your email account when using a shared or public computer.

Username & Password (How You Sign In)

To access your John Jay email and Microsoft 365 services, you must sign in using:

  • Username: firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu
  • Password: Your CUNY Login password

You will be prompted to sign in at https://outlook.com or when configuring email on a desktop or mobile device.

E-Mail Address

Your John Jay email address is unique and is automatically assigned when you are enrolled (students) or hired (Faculty and Staff)

  • Faculty & Staff:
    Typically formatted as:
    first initial + last name
    Example: jdoe@jjay.cuny.edu
  • Students:
    Typically formatted as:
    first name.last name
    Example: jane.doe@jjay.cuny.edu

Your John Jay email address remains the same even though email is now hosted on Microsoft 365.

Password Management

  • Passwords are managed centrally through CUNY Login. DoIT cannot change your password for you.
  • You can change or reset your password at any time using the CUNY Login Account Self-Service site
