On April 10–11, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, will host

the Fourth International Coercive Control Conference (ICCC)

in partnership with the Engendered Collective, the conference’s founding organization.

Co-chaired by Dr. Chitra Raghavan and Dr. Kendra Doychak from the Psychology Department, the conference brings together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, legal professionals, advocates, and survivors to examine coercive control across contexts, from intimate partner violence and human trafficking to cults, gangs, and organizational abuse.

Now central to how gender-based violence is understood in law and research, coercive control offers a framework for addressing patterns of harm that extend beyond physical violence. This conference focuses on practical, cross-disciplinary approaches to advancing policy, practice, and accountability.
