DSST Exams

DSST exams are offered by Prometric Inc. in over 30 subjects in business, math, humanities, physical sciences, social sciences, and technology. Some DSST credits are equivalent to specific John Jay courses, while some count as electives. See the equivalency table below for passing scores and equivalent courses. If the equivalent course for a CLEP exam satisfies a general education, major, or minor requirement, then that CLEP exam may be used to satisfy that requirement.

For information about how to take a DSST exam, visit the website at www.getcollegecredit.com. When searching for a Test Center, be sure to check the box next to Locations that Deliver DSST Exams.

This equivalency table lists DSST exams currently offered, each exam’s equivalent course(s) at John Jay, the number of credits John Jay awards, and the minimum score required in order to receive credit. It is updated periodically based on the recommendations of the American Council on Education. Individual credit awards are based on the credit recommendations in effect at the time the exam was taken and may differ from what is listed here.
