Dear John Jay Faculty & Staff,
As we prepare for the Spring 2026 Commencement season, we are pleased to share key information to support our graduating students.
Save the Date
The 2026 John Jay Commencement Ceremony will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026, in the afternoon at Barclays Center. Additional details will be shared as the date approaches and posted on the Commencement website.
Graduation vs. Commencement
- Graduation refers to the degree conferral process, during which the Office of the Registrar reviews a student’s record and posts the degree to the official transcript. Questions: RegistrarAudit@jjay.cuny.edu
- Commencement is the annual spring ceremony celebrating students who have completed or are near completion of their degree requirements. Questions: Graduation@jjay.cuny.edu
Commencement Eligibility Requirements
To receive an invitation to participate in the Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony, students must:
- Apply for Graduation in CUNYfirst
- Spring graduates: March 31, 2026
- Summer graduates: May 1, 2026
- Register for summer classes (two courses or less) and apply for graduation

- Pay Fall/Spring Tuition Balance in Full
- Fall/Spring tuition balance must be paid in full by March 31, 2026
- Questions: Bursar@jjay.cuny.edu
