A founding member of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics, Susan Larkin has been an instructor in the department for over thirty five years. From 1987 until 2008 she served in the dual capacity of chair of the department and director of athletics (and was the first female athletics director in CUNY.) She served in various capacities in athletics: head volleyball coach, head men’s tennis coach, member of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Committee for three years and president of the CUNY Athletics Directors. As chair, she served on the College Personnel and Budget Committee and chair of its subcommittee for promotions. Professor Larkin also has been continuously involved in curriculum development. She holds a PhD from NYU in the field of English, a master’s in English from Long Island University and a master’s in physical education from Columbia University.
