Through access to high-quality media production equipment, creative software, and individualized or group instruction, students engage in activities such as video and audio production, photography, digital editing, and more. The lab supports a range of academic and professional projects—from digital class assignments and capstone presentations to student organization campaigns.

 

Podcast Support

The Digital Creation Lab is a dedicated, tech-forward space designed to support students in developing high-quality podcasting and live-streaming content for academic, extracurricular, and professional purposes. Equipped with industry-standard microphones, audio interfaces, HD cameras, lighting, and post-production software, the lab enables students to gain hands-on experience with modern media tools.

 

Ai Assistance

At the Digital Creation Lab, our DCL staff are experienced with AI tools to support student's learning experience while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. Using AI tools, students receive personalized assistance with homework, research projects, presentations, and study planning—helping students stay organized, understand complex concepts, and improve academic performance. Our services don’t just provide help—they also teach responsible AI usage. Students learn how to use AI ethically, understanding the boundaries between support and misconduct. Through workshops and guided tutorials, we promote academic honesty and critical thinking, ensuring AI is a tool for learning—not a shortcut. With smart, supportive, and ethical technology, the DCL staff will help guide students with every step of the way on their academic journey.

 

ePortfolio Support

ePortfolio is a way for you to demonstrate what you are learning inside and outside the classroom while a student at John Jay. Whether you are introduced to ePortfolio through a professor in a class, by participating in a program where you will showcase what you're doing as a member of that program, or if you've just seen some of the vibrant ePortfolios that your peers have created and want one for yourself too, an ePortfolio is a way for you to demonstrate online on your own web site the successes that you achieve offline!

How Do I Get Started with ePortfolio?

  • Register for one of the courses where the professors will have you create an ePortfolio.
