Justin A. Giordano is a Professor, Attorney, Scholar, and Reseracher/Writer/Columnist.

His expertise also incorporates Entrepreneurship and the Music Industry, including the legal and business aspects of the music industry, music production, songwriting and performing.

Professor

Prof. Justin A. Giordano principally teaches Constitutional Law at John Jay College of Criminal Justice/CUNY. In addition he also teaches and has taught a full array of other law related courses including Immigration Law, Jurisprudence, American Judiciary, Criminal Law of New York, and Law and Evidence, Major Works in Corrections, and Problems in Constitutional Development.

Justin Giordano is also a Professor of Business & Law at the State University of New York-Empire State College where he principally teaches Business Law and the Legal Environment as well as a broad spectrum of business courses, entertainment and media law, and the music industry at the undergraduate level.

In the MBA (Master of Business Administration) program he teaches International Business Law, Entrepreneurship, and courses that he has developed, namely International Financial Law and Regulation, and Legal Aspects of Entrepreneurship.

Furthermore he’s taught Constitutional Law at the graduate level (M.S. program).

In addition Prof. Giordano has taught International Law and Entertainment & Media Law as a visiting professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

Prof. Giordano’s areas of academic expertise, research, and teaching interests include:

Law, principally constitutional law, business law, international law, music and entertainment law; criminal law

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management;

United States Economic Policy, particularly as it impacts and affects domestic, societal, global and the geo-political issues;

Music and Entertainment Industry, and Music Entrepreneurship;

Strategic Business Environment, including international business.

Writer/Researcher/Columnist

Prof. Giordano has been regularly published (over 100 articles and op-eds) in scholarly, professional and general interest publications. Among them the North Carolina Central University Law Review, The Journal of the Suffolk Academy Law, the Queens Bar Bulletin, the Connecticut Bar Association Federal Practice law magazine as well as writing an op-ed/analysis column (under the designation "American Perspectives") in the Suffolk Academy of Law's Suffolk Lawyer, which is published in print and on-line. His columns cover a multitude of topics including current and historical events analyzed and evaluated from a legal, socio-economic and constitutional perspective.

One of his recent scholarly papers entitled "Minimum Wage and Low-Wage Workers: Correlational Evidence from El Centro, California (Imperial County) in Comparison With Select U.S. and State (California- specific) Statistical Data", which was co-authored with Mr. Emannuel Tabones, won the "Overall Best Paper Competition" at the 42nd Meeting of the Northeast Business & Economics Association, November 6, 2015.

The paper was also published in the Journal of Business and Economics, Volume 15, Number 2, 2015 (Summer) and presented at the International Academy of Business and Economics in Rome, Italy, June 2015.

Other recent scholarly publications include "Regulations and Their Impact on Small Business and Entrepreneurship" published in the Review of Business Research (Volume 13, Number 1, 2013), and "The Minimum Wage, Unemployment, and the Youth Workforce (Ages 16-19): A Correlation and Comparative Analysis of Select Categories Including the General U.S. Labor Population for Years 2003-2012", published in the Journal of International Business and Economics (October 2013).

Fellowships/Awards/Conferences/Etc.

Justin Giordano is also the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards and fellowships, including the SUNY Empire State College's Arthur Imperatore Community Fellowship, SUNY Empire State College Scholar Across the College (and invited to make presentations on his fields of expertise at centers across the state and in Prague, Czech Republic), multiple Direct Marketing Association Fellowships and invitations to the International Radio & Television Society's Faculty/Industry conferences.

Prof. Giordano regularly attends and presents his papers at academic conferences and has been interviewed on radio on socio-political issues and produced a video documentary on the current and evolving state of the music industry featuring interviews with individuals engaged in the field at all levels and capacities.

Academic Leadership/Governance

Prof. Giordano’s held a broad array of academic and governance leadership positions including Empire State College Senate Chair and Vice-Chair, Faculty Chair for the ESC Metropolitan Center, chair of the Middle States Self-Study Steering Committee's Leadership, Governance & Administration task force, Chair and Co-Chair of the University Faculty Senate Programs & Awards Committee, Campus Governance Leader, member of the SUNY Governance Committee, Publications & Communications Committee, and many others leadership roles.

Prof. Giordano also maintains an active presence in various fields and sectors. He is a member of many professional legal and business organizations,        including the New York State Bar Association, NYSBA's Entertainment, Arts & Sports Section, Suffolk County Association, and regularly serves as a judge for the ABA's [American Bar Association] Appellate Moot Court National Competition and various other Regional Moot Court Competitions.

Music Industry (Production, Songwriting, Performance) / Entrepreneurship / Real Estate

Giordano's background and experience outside of academia and law includes the corporate, entrepreneurial, real estate, and music industry fields. His involvement with music spans over thirty years and incorporates the artistic, business and legal aspects. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the Country Music Association (CMA) and several other industry related organizations. As an attorney with music industry expertise he’s also a member of the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the New State Bar Association. His artistic background encompasses songwriting, music production and performance, having produced and released four CD albums of original material entitled "Here's to You, Here's to Me" [a double CD album], and "Life Goes On", "No Escape", and "Hear the Rock…Feel the Roll". His music and related activities are featured on the website justinag.com.
