with Dr. Leonardo Castilho

After working for human rights NGOs in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Leonardo Castilho joined the United Nations in 2005 and since then has worked for the Office of the High Chile, Panama, but also covering a number of countries on missions. He began his university studies in Law and International Relations at PUC-Rio, graduated from Sciences-Po Paris, with a Master's degree in International Affairs / International Development, and later obtained a Master of Studies in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University. He also obtained a Ph.D. degree in International Relations / Political Science from the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies (magna cum laude) with a thesis entitled "Spreading the word abroad about democracy at home: new democracies and their support of human rights." Leonardo is currently on leave from OHCHR
