You cannot take in-person classes when you join CJBS Online and you must remain a Criminal Justice major.
Many online classes at John Jay are open to all students. If you would only like to take some online classes, you do not need to join CJBS Online.
CJBS Online is best for students who need a guarantee that all of their classes will be available online, every semester.
Online degree program students will not be required to come to campus.
If you wish to access campus for use of the library or other services, you can obtain a John Jay College ID.
Online students must meet the same requirements as in person students to obtain a John Jay College ID.

Courses and Academic Success
The CJBS online program is a guided degree completion program. You will be able to select from 3-5 options for courses in each Criminal Justice B.S. degree component. Visit here to see which courses are offered in what semesters.
You can earn your degree in two years if you enroll in and successfully complete 12 credits during the fall and spring semesters and 6 credits each summer.
Program Costs and Financial Aid
You can use the resources available at this website to determine the cost of your degree, and how financial aid or other sources of funding for your education fit in.
Yes, if you are eligible for Pell Grants (federal student aid) or TAP funds (NY State aid), you can use these to cover the costs of an online degree.
You will not be able to register for a new semester if you have an outstanding balance. For assistance covering the cost of your tuition, you should first meet with a financial aid officer who can provide you with ideas about how to manage education expenses.

Technology
You will need regular access to the internet. Any standard connection (wifi, hotspot etc.) will work.
You will complete your coursework on the Brightspace Learning Management System.
You will need to complete an introductory assignment or contact your professor at the beginning of the assignment to verify your intent to stay in the course. Failing to do this may lead to receiving a grade of WN, which will withdraw you from the course and remove your access.
If you need support accessing technology, contact the Department of Online Education & Resources at onlineed@jjay.cuny.edu
If you need help accessing classes on Brightspace write to lms.student@jjay.cuny.edu
