Research Compliance Considerations
Depending on your field of study and the type of grant you are applying for, you may be required to undergo some training or complete some forms prior to submission. Some may require you to apply for approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB). Familiarize yourself with your research's ethical considerations and guidelines and ensure that you obtain the necessary approvals before applying for funding.

- IRB Considerations
- Financial Conflicts of Interest in Sponsored Projects: Each investigator (as defined in the CUNY Conflict of Interest Policy) must disclose whether or not they have any Significant Financial Interests (SFI) (as defined in the CUNY Conflict of Interest Policy) at the time that a grant proposal or application is submitted to an external sponsor, among other times.
The SFI disclosure thresholds and requirements are different for projects supported by a PHS agency and for projects not funded by a PHS agency. Investigators should check whether the sponsor is a PHS agency and submit the correct forms to their college Grants Officer and CCO prior to proposal submission.
