Rocío Carranza Brito, Doctoral Lecturer of Spanish, holds a PhD in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures, specializing in Hispanic Critical Sociolinguistics, from the Graduate Center, CUNY. Her main research interests focus on language ideologies, language and immigration, language and labor, critical pedagogies, language and fat studies, and Spanish syntax.
Prof. Carranza Brito has broad experience teaching language at all levels of education and is the author of several textbooks in Spanish. She has taught at nearly every CUNY campus, contributing to her knowledge of the CUNY system and its students. At John Jay College of Criminal Justice, she is the Coordinator of the Language Program and is leading the redesign of the Spanish for Heritage Speakers track, whose courses she also teaches.
Prof. Carranza Brito recently earned the certificate in Language Program Management, from the Teachers College, Columbia University.
