Joseph Mahmud
Joseph Mahmud is a results-driven leader with more than seven years of experience building high-performing teams, optimizing operations, and driving organizational growth. As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), he brings proven expertise in project design, budgeting, and strategic planning, consistently delivering innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and outcomes.
Joseph currently serves as Program Manager for the Master of Public Administration Program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he oversees nationally recognized initiatives, directs financial planning, and manages operations for one of the largest graduate programs of its kind. He also teaches undergraduate courses in public administration, organizational management, and data analysis, preparing the next generation of leaders with the tools to excel in public service.
Throughout his career, Joseph has held key positions across higher education, city government, and nonprofit organizations—including the City of New York’s Administration for Children’s Services and The Legal Aid Society. In these roles, he has led accreditation efforts, developed performance assessments, and implemented policy improvements that have impacted hundreds of employees and stakeholders.
Passionate about advancing equity and innovation in public service, Joseph serves as an advisor and board member with several professional organizations, including the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). He is also an active member of ASPA, APPAM, ICMA, and NASPAA.
Joseph earned both his Master of Public Administration (dual specialization in Human Resources and Operations Management) and his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from John Jay College. His work has been recognized with honors, including the Echoing Green/Barclays Future of Work Social Innovation Award, as well as memberships in Pi Alpha Alpha and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societies.
