The John Jay College Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP at John Jay) is designed to engage, motivate and prepare minority, economically disadvantaged, and traditionally underrepresented secondary school students for higher education studies and careers in science, mathematics, computer programing, health-related professions, and other science professions. The program will offer students in the 7th - 12th  grades with various academic support services, enrichment classes, science workshops and high school research club. Students will also receive academic, career, and college counseling on a regular basis.

Programs

  • Saturday Enrichment Program
    Saturday online classes: ELA, Math, SAT, and Computer programming
  • Forensic Science Workshop
    One-day workshop on Tuesdays or 2-day workshop in 2025 Spring Recess. Please contact shcheng@jjay.cuny.edu for details.
  • Research Club
    Students in 11th-12th grade will join Friday afternoon research club from October to May in studying the toxicity of chemicals in an in-vitro model using biochemical assays. Application, recommendation, and interview are required. The details are coming soon.
  • Academic and Internship Counseling
    Education advisors will be available for one-on-one 15 minutes. The meeting schedule will be available soon.
  • Tutoring Services
    School-specific tutoring services for Algebra I/II, Living Environment, Chemistry, etc. Please contact shcheng@jjay.cuny.edu for details.
