John Jay College Selected to Participate in NORDP Consultants Program
John Jay College of Criminal Justice was selected to participate in Cohort IV of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) Consultants Program, a prestigious initiative designed to strengthen research capacity and infrastructure at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) and Emerging Research Institutions (ERIs) across the country.
This program will pair John Jay with a team of NORDP consultants to engage in a three-phase process to develop and implement strategic, sustainable plans that expand the College’s research enterprise. As part of the initiative, participating institutions receive $150,000 to invest in research infrastructure, along with 600 consulting hours over two years, peer mentoring, and networking opportunities with funders and research development professionals nationwide.
“The opportunity to work with the National Organization of Research Development Professionals comes at a perfect moment. We know that faculty now need to be creative and resourceful to fund their research agendas, and these consultants will support them so we can write the next chapter of John Jay’s impressive research story,” said Dr. Allison Pease, provost and vice president for academic affairs at John Jay College.
“The Office for the Advancement of Research (OAR) is excited to participate in the NORDP Consultants Program,” added Dr. Anthony Carpi, vice provost for research advancement. “The Program will help OAR achieve its strategic goals, and will help us strengthen the infrastructure and systems that support our fantastic collection of faculty and research and practice centers. I’m particularly grateful to Distinguished Faculty Fellow Preeti Chauhan for leading this application.”
The NORDP Consultants Program will help John Jay pivot at a time of changing federal funding to help faculty identify funding opportunities, enhance research development and infrastructure, and strengthen our scholarship. The consultants will work with OAR to engage in strategic planning meetings, help the college optimize research infrastructure, and provide research development guidance for faculty and center directors.
This engagement is part of a broader effort led by Kimberly Eck, MPH, PhD, past president of NORDP and senior associate vice president for research at Emory University, and Japera Hemming, PhD, project director.
“We are excited to collaborate with John Jay College and support their journey toward research growth and equity,” said Eck and Hemming in a joint statement. “This partnership reflects NORDP’s mission to build inclusive and impactful research ecosystems.”
The NORDP Consultants Program is supported by the National Science Foundation Growing Research Access for Nationally Transformative Equity and Diversity (GRANTED) program. It offers tailored consulting services, proposal development support, and dedicated mentoring for institutional leaders advancing research at MSIs and ERIs
John Jay College joins other prestigious institutions nationwide in leveraging this opportunity to grow our research capacity, build strategic partnerships, and secure sustainable external funding.
