Andrew Noe Cruz ‘28 Wins Watson Fellowship

Andrew Noe Cruz ‘28, an international criminal justice major, was awarded the Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship, which provides students with three fully-funded, immersive summer internships, a network of peers and ongoing mentorship.

At John Jay, Cruz has participated in the MBK Connect Program, Ringel Humanities Scholar Program and APPLE Corps. As a member of the John Jay United Nations Student Association, he serves as a delegate to the Model United Nations representing Serbia in the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons committee. Cruz’s academic interests include international law, human rights, comparative criminal justice systems and global crime trends and he is certified by FEMA in community emergency, incident command systems and emergency planning. He is also a Taekwondo instructor and coach.

Fellows are chosen through a nomination process at 12 New York City partner institutions and they are represented at top graduate schools and go on to become leaders in law, medicine, public policy, business, arts and sciences and more. Fellow Bloodhounds who received Watson Fellowships in recent years include Nia Clement ‘26, Aaron Fernando ’21, Katherine Grivkov ’25, Musarrat Lamia ’20, Ralph-Montas Osias ‘26 and Amanda Zhu ’22.
