Jesse Funtleyder ‘21 Wins Fulbright Award

John Jay congratulates Jesse Funtleyder ‘21, who received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Award to Poland.

Currently, Funtleyder is co-chair of Reisenbach Philanthropies, a non-profit incubator, and a John Jay adjunct professor. He graduated from John Jay with honors, earning a dual degree (BA and MA) in forensic psychology. While at John Jay, Funtleyder had an externship with the Fortune Society and was a Pinkerton Community Fellow and peer success coach. He holds several professional licenses, including in mental health first aid.

Awards to Poland are competitive and open to students and alumni of U.S. higher education institutions. With the Fulbright, Funtleyder will co-teach and teach English language classes in a Polish college or university, developing his own lesson plans and managing his own classroom. Before starting the program, Funtleyder will join training sessions and an orientation to Warsaw.
