  1. New Leadership Opportunity!  Call for Applicants: Director of Academic Integrity.  Provost Pease is pleased to announce a new leadership opportunity at John Jay.

Effective this academic year, we are introducing the role of Director of Academic Integrity – also known as the Academic Integrity Officer (AIO). This faculty director will collaborate with the outgoing AIO, Jennifer Dobbins, and the Deans of Faculty and of Academic Programs to create and define this new position, in light of our revised Academic Integrity policy and process.

The position has a three-year renewable term. The Director of Academic Integrity, as an academic affairs official, must be a full-time John Jay faculty member with tenure/CCE. They will receive the following:

    • three (3) courses of reassigned time in their first academic year of the role
    • two (2) courses of reassigned time in each subsequent year in the role
    • $3,000 summer salary supplement per year, beginning in summer 2026 and continuing for two subsequent summers

This role may not be combined with any other administrative commitment that provides reassigned time.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Serve as the initial contact person with faculty members when they report incidents of suspected academic dishonesty.
    • Consult with faculty who have questions about the academic integrity process.
    • Receive and review faculty academic integrity reports and follow up as required to provide required documentation to the Academic Integrity Committee (AIC), which is comprised of faculty elected by the Faculty Senate and College Council.
    • Contact students who have a pending AI report to inform them of the allegation and ascertain their response (admit or contest). Facilitate case closure when students admit and meet with students who contest in preparation for referral to the AIC.
    • Forward cases to the disciplinary committee, as appropriate.
    • Close cases and provide final reports on the outcome to affected parties.
    • Maintain all records and paperwork pertaining to students’ confidential academic integrity files.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Process- and detail-oriented and organized.
    • Skilled in communication and strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collect information and address concerns with objectivity and impartiality.
    • Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and good judgment.
    • Generative AI experience/knowledge is a plus.

Interested faculty should submit their statement of interest in the position to Dean Crossman at acrossman@jjay.cuny.edu by March 13, 2026.  Questions about the Academic Integrity process can be directed to current AIO Jennifer Dobbins at jedobbins@jjay.cuny.edu
